Religious Education at Schools in Europe
The project "Religious Education at Schools in Europe" (REL-EDU), which is divided up into six volumes (Central Europe, Western Europe, Northern Europe, Southern Europe, South-Eastern Europe, Eastern Europe), aims to research the situation with regard to religious education in Europe. The second volume outlines the organisational form of religious education in the countries of Western Europe (England, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Belgium, France, Luxembourg, Netherlands). This is done on the basis of thirteen key issues, which allows specific points of comparison between different countries in Europe. Thereby the volume focusses the comparative approach and facilitates further research into specific aspects of the comparison.
Dr. Bert Roebben is Professor of Religious Education at the Faculty of Catholic Theology of the University of Bonn.
Dr. Martin Rothgangel ist Professor für Religionspädagogik an der Evangelisch-Theologischen Fakultät der Universität Wien.
Prof. Dr. Robert Jackson teaches Religions and Education at the University of Warwick and Religious Diversity and Education at the European Wergeland Centre, Oslo, Norway.
Prof. Dr. Martin Jäggle lehrte Religionspädagogik und Katechetik an der Katholisch-Theologischen Fakultät der Universität Wien.
Prof. Dr. Christian Danz studierte Evangelischen Theologie an der Universität Jena. Nach seiner Promotion und Habilitation übernahm er die Vertretungsprofessur für Systematische Theologie an der Universität Essen. Seit 2002 ist er Professor für Systematische Theologie A.B. an der Evangelisch-Theologischen Fakultät der Universität Wien. Er ist Vorsitzender der Deutschen Paul-Tillich-Gesellschaft e.V. und Stellvertretender Vorsitzender des Ausschusses des Projektes »Schelling – Edition und Archiv« der Bayerischen Akademie der Wissenschaften.
Prof Dr Karl Baier is Head of the Department of Religious Studies, University of Vienna. His research interests include nineteenth and twentieth-century alternative religion, occultism and modern yoga.
