Peter Hoehnle his doctorate in Agricultural History and Rural Studies from Iowa State University in 2003. His publications include The Amana People (Penfield, 2003), Amana Style (Penfield, 2005), Christian Metz: German American Religious Leader and Pioneer (Penfield, 2005) and A Bruised Idealist: David Lamson, Hopedale, and the Shakers (Couper, 2010). He is also the author of many articles, primarily on topics related to American communal history.
