The great Indian epic, retold from the perspective of a twelve year old. Samhita's version is bold and unorthodox in its depiction of characters, and in the critical tone it adopts towards the epic's main theme: war. This best-selling book offers children and adults a fresh perspective on a timeless classic.
The Mahabharatha, a great Indian epic, is a compelling chronicle of ambition and destruction. Illustrated with charming and intricate line drawings, this book offers a fresh and accessible perspective on this timeless myth. Originally published in the UK as two separate volumes, the book is now available as single combined edition.

Samhita was born in Chennai, India, but as the daughter of a diplomat grew up in India, Indonesia, Italy, Pakistan and Thailand. Interested in Hindu mythology from an early age, her illustrated version of The Mahabharatha was published by Tara Books in 1996, and went on to be translated into seven languages. Since then, she studied film and religion at Mount Holyoke College, USA, and wrote the text for the NY Times Bestseller Sita's Ramayana, also published by Tara Books.
