This is the story of a soul's journey -- one played out in mythic form as the struggle between Aquarius, the image of the new age, and Lucifer, who represents all that is negative and destructive about our present entropic age.

It is the work of Erlo van Waveren, a New York-based Jungian-oriented analyst, who assembled this chronicle from his dream books, diaries, and notes accumulated over nearly 20 years. As the book was nearing completion in 1985, van Waveren died, and it is only now that the enormous task of editing and publishing the book has been finished.

Van Waveren's vision is extraordinary. His book begins after the magical birth of Aquarius, an inner God-image who is a symbol of the complete Self. The aim of all human beings is to achieve the kind of individuation that leads to the whole Self -- where death as well as life, the feminine as well as the masculine, the body as well as the spirit, and earth as well as heaven inhabit the one being. For van Waveren, this movement toward the reconciling of opposites was an irresistible one, created by the coming millennium. But it will also take effort -- perhaps humanity's greatest yet -- if we are to achieve the holiness of complete being.
