Map of the North and east Ridings of Yorkshire originally published in 1611 by John Speed, digitally re-mastered from an antique original and printed onto photographic quality media. Supplied flat in a polypropylene sleeve and back board, the 16" x 12" (approx. 406 mm x 305 mm) print can be removed from the protective sleeve.
Plans of Richmond and Hull are portrayed in the top right and bottom left corners respectively, each with a legend. Along the right hand side, the coats of arms of the Earls of Holderness are depicted, those of the Dukes and Earls of Richmond are illustrated along the top. The positions of rivers, forests, dales, castles, abbeys and settlements are all shown on the map, and the depictions of fearsome sea monsters and sailing ships in the North Sea add to the character of this lovely piece of artwork.
