Map of Saxon Britain originally published in 1611 by John Speed, digitally re-mastered from an antique original and printed onto photographic quality media. This larger sized format 30" x 25" (approx. 762 mm x 635 mm) is supplied rolled in a heavy duty protective cardboard tube.
"Britain as it was devided in the tyme of the Englifhe Saxons efpecially during their Heptarchy" Bordering this map are two columns depicting the legendary rulers of each kingdom; Creoda and Peada representing Mercia, Offa and Eorpwald of East Anglia, Aescwine and Saebert of Essex, Cerdic and Cynegils of Wessex, Edwin and Ida of Northumbria, Aethelbert and Hengest of Kent, and Aelle and Aethelwealh representing Sussex. The map is marked with the major settlements of each kingdom, including those of Wales and Scotland, along with their borders and shields.
