Map of Wiltshire originally published in 1611 by John Speed, digitally re-mastered from an antique original and printed onto photographic quality media. Supplied flat in a polypropylene sleeve and back board, the 16" x 12" (approx. 406 mm x 305 mm) print can be removed from the protective sleeve for framing or retained in the sleeve.
In the top left hand corner is a plan of the ancient city of Salisbury as it used to be, whilst in the right hand corner is an illustration of the most famous monument of Britain - Stonehenge. Running down the right hand side, beneath Stonehenge is a history of the site, which states that Stonehenge was the burial place of Aurelius Ambrosius, a King of the Britons. Along the left side of the map are depicted the coats of arms of the Earls of Wiltshire and Salisbury, fourteen in total. Forests, such as Savernake and Blackmore, are marked on the map, along with all the rivers, hills, settlements and other landmarks of the county. This would make the ideal gift for anyone with a connection to Wiltshire.
