Map of Dorsetshire originally published in 1611 by John Speed, digitally re-mastered from an antique original and printed onto photographic quality media. Supplied flat in a polypropylene sleeve and back board, the 20" x 16" (approx. 508 mm x 406 mm) print can be removed from the protective sleeve for framing or retained in the sleeve.
In the top left corner, a bird's eye view of Dorchester is shown, with the names of the main streets, and the old wall of the town marked. In the bottom left hand corner are the armorial devices of the Earls of Dorchester, and between them and the scale of miles in the right hand corner, ships and fanciful sea creatures have been illustrated. The major towns of Dorchester, Wimbourne, Sherbourne and Shaftesbury, as well as the important ports of Weymouth and Poole are faithfully marked on the map.
