Nicht jede wissenschaftsgeschichtliche Spanne in der Geschichte der deutschen Rechtsgeschichte macht Epoche und kaum eine wirft nach nur zwölf Jahren die paradox scheinende Frage auf, welche Rechtsgeschiche eigentlich die ihre war.
Die Frage danach stand im Mittelpunkt eines Symposiums über "Ideologiekritik rechtshistorischer Forschung - Kontinuität und Folgen des Bildes von Deutscher Rechtsgeschichte vom Kaiserreich bis zur NS-Zeit und bis heute".
Not every period in German legal history has been epochal, and there is scarcely another one which after only twelve years posed the question of which legal history actually was its real one.
This question was focal point of a symposium organized by the editors on "Ideological Criticism of Research on the History of Law - Continuity and Consequences of the Concept of the History of German Law from the 1870s to the Nazi Period and up to the Present".
The image that German legal history developed at that time was examined from three different points of view: first of all the main elements of this image, secondly the conditions preceding it back to the time of the German Empire and thirdly its effects on present-day legal history.
