His laid-back Midwestern manners and 'yes, sir' approach sharply contrast with Boston's fast paced life style. The story is a warmhearted, thought-provoking, fun adventure which takes the reader not only on Carter's journey to maturity but introduces them to unique, feisty characters who radiate from the pages. Eventually, Carter meets Molly O'Malley, who helps him adapt to the idiosyncrasies of the east coast. But what will Charli think of her, or Julie, his tutor, who acquired an interest in him? Or even Kathy or Kitty. Oh, yes. There were others who couldn't resist the good man.
