The book deals with the various types of state space modelling, characteristic equations, eigenvalues and eigenvectors including the design of the linear systems applying the pole placement technique. It provides step-by-step solutions to state equations and discusses the stability analysis and design of nonlinear control systems applying the phase plane technique, Routh's criteria, Bode plot, Nyquist plot, Lyapunov's and function methods. Furthermore, it also introduces the sampled-data control systems explaining the z-transforms and inverse z-transforms.

B. N. Sarkar (PhD) is Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, Bangalore, India. He obtained his doctorate in Electrical Engineering from the University of Roorkee (now IIT Roorkee) in the year 1982. He has more than thirty years of teaching experience and has published/presented several technical papers in national and international technical journals/conferences. A fellow member of Institution of Engineers (India) and Ex-member of CIGRE (France), Professor Sarkar has authored two books including Textbook on Industrial Drives published by PHI Learning.
