A wide variety of microscopic and imaging techniques (including DIC, fluorescence and 3-computer animation) have been used by researchers to capture these events. Sequences include: muscle cells contracting on thin rubber substrata; synchronous mitosis of "Drosophila" embryonic nuclei; an ear hair cell vibrating to movement; and fern sperm release.
