Andr B gelsack studied information management at the Otto von Guericke University in Magdeburg, Germany. During his years of study, he already concentrated on a multitude of database management systems and participated in research and development projects. Since 2006, he has been working at the SAP University Competence Center (SAP UCC) at the Technische Universit t M nchen, Germany, and has been system and database administrator for almost 100 SAP installations. He is a certified SAP NetWeaver Technology Consultant for SAP Web AS 6.40 and SAP MaxDB 7.5 and, in addition to his system administration work, he is also increasingly engaged in ABAP programming. His research activities within the scope of his dissertation focus on the behavior of SAP systems in paravirtualized machines. Within this context, he concentrates in particular on the scaling and performance of SAP systems. Stephan Gradl studied computer science with an economics minor and earned his doctorate from the Technische Universit t M nchen, Germany. In numerous projects during his studies, he already dealt with the migration and optimization of databases. He therefore chose "High-Performance Data for RFID Applications" as the topic of his thesis, which was supervised by Professor emeritus Rudolf Bayer. Since 2006, he has been an employee at the SAP University Competence Center (SAP UCC) at the Technische Universit t M nchen, Germany, and has been jointly responsible for the operation of approximately 100 SAP installations as a system and database administrator. Since completing his certification as an SAP NetWeaver Technology Consultant for SAP Web AS 6.40 and MaxDB 7.5 at the beginning of 2007, he has been focusing on the administration and setup of externally facing portals on the basis of SAP NetWeaver Portal. In his research, Stephan Gradl concentrates on the behavior and performance of applications in service-oriented architectures (SOAs). Manuel Mayer grew up in South Tyrol and studied computer science (Bachelor) and information management (Master) at the Technische Universit t M nchen, Germany. During his studies, as a working student at Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, he dealt with the migration of databases. In 2006, he engaged in business process management and data storage in distributed systems at the Stevens Institute of Technology in New York. Since 2007, he has been working as a research assistant for the chair of information management in the area of SAP NetWeaver and MaxDB administration at the SAP University Competence Center. In addition, he is in charge of the chair's technical infrastructure and his current research work focuses on workflow management systems in the healthcare segment. Helmut Krcmar has held the chair for Information Systems at the Information Technology Department of the Technische Universit t M nchen (TUM) since October 1, 2002. He is a member of the Information Technology Department, a secondary member of the Economics Department, and a member of the Carl von Linde Academy. Since 2004, he has been a member of the board of the elite graduate program in finance and information management (FIM) in the elite network of Bavaria, Germany. Between October 2003 and May 2007, he was academic director of the communicate! program, and has been scientific director of the Center for Digital Technology and Management (CDTM) of TUM since January 2004. His research interests include information and knowledge management; engineering and management of IT-based services; piloting innovative information systems in healthcare, environmental management, and e-government; and computer support of cooperation in distributed and mobile work and learning processes. His book Informationsmanagement has seen four editions.
