Background
Power and Energy industry is a highly capital intensive business field. Objective
The book's overall objective is to provide a concise but comprehensive coverage of Power Supply Technologies and the related Economics as required for techno-economic Evaluation of Investments in power and business projects. The book is neither a scientific paper nor literature Research. Throughout the book, the emphasis is on transferring practical know-how rather than pure theoretical knowledge. This is also demonstrated in numerous examples and case studies derived from experience of respective projects.
Contents and Scope
The book comprises eleven chapters: Basics of Technical Thermodynamics, Basic Techno-Economics of Power Systems, Thermal Power Plants fired by fossil fuels, Nuclear Power Plants, Power Generation from Renewable Energies, Cogeneration of Power and Heat, Cost Allocation to Cogeneration Products, Transmission and Distribution of Power, Electricity Trading and finally Case Studies. All chapters include a concise description of the technoligies along with their economics. The text part is supported by about 45 tables, 100 figures, 35 application examples and 10 Case Studies.
Target Audience
Target audience of the book are primarily international Consultants, staff members of Engineering companies, Utility personnel, energy economists and lawyers, as well as employees of government agencies entrusted with regulating the energy and utility sector and, finally, students in related fields of engineering and economics.
Panos Konstantin, born in Greece, is a retired engineer with a German University degree (Dipl.-Ing.). He has been involved as expert and project manager in a large number of projects for utility and industrial energy systems. He has conducted training courses on related subjects. He has been working in different countries such as Russia, Uzbekistan, Thailand, Malaysia, India, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arabian Emirates, Australia, South Africa and of course all over Europe. His books reflect the knowledge drawn from 35 years' experience as a consultant for engineering and economics of power and energy system projects worldwide. His first book with the title “Praxisbuch Energiewirtschaft” was published in September 2006, its 4th edition will be published in 2016.
