This Open Access book explores the dynamic interface of urban practice, transformation, and cities and climate change science. Beginning with the landmark Edmonton 2018 Cities and Climate Change Science Conference and moving through the Innovate4Cities Conferences in 2021 and 2024, it shows how the Global Research and Action Agenda for Cities and Climate Change Science (GRAA) has shaped global research and policy frameworks, facilitated collaboration across disciplines and sectors, and supported the exchange of knowledge and innovation between cities globally. Through practical case studies, the book highlights actionable solutions and scalable interventions already being implemented to address urban climate challenges. It provides a detailed record of how cities and climate change science have evolved, while synthesizing lessons learned into effective strategies. This dual approach offers both historical context and evidence-based pathways for practitioners and researchers working toward sustainable, resilient, and equitable urban development.
