In 1969, mankind stepped out of its cradle, named Earth, when Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first humans to walk on another planetary body - the Moon.
50 years later, space agencies around the globe as well as private space companies are turning their eyes back towards Earth's natural satellite.
This thesis, developed at the Institute of Space Systems of the University of Stuttgart, contributes to the global efforts with the analysis of the environmental conditions on the lunar surface and the development of a software tool for future landing site selection.
