Biomechanics of the Female Pelvic Floor, Second Edition, is the first book to specifically focus on this key part of women’s health, combining engineering and clinical expertise. This edited collection will help readers understand the risk factors for pelvic floor dysfunction, the mechanisms of childbirth related injury, and how to design intrapartum preventative strategies, optimal repair techniques, and prostheses.

Dr. Hoyte specializes in advanced robotic surgery to correct vaginal prolapse, and is one of the leading robotic prolapse surgeons in the world. He has trained over 50 surgeons in the use of the Da Vinci robotic surgical system. In addition to speaking engagements, he has written two books on the subject - “prolapse repair”, and “robotic hysterectomy”, designed specifically to educate women about treatment options for prolapse. Cleveland Clinic Department of Biomedical EngineeringDr. Damaser maintains a Urological Biomechanics Laboratory where they investigate the causes of, and treatments for, female pelvic floor disorders. She received her undergraduate degree in bioengineering sciences from Harvard University, and her doctorate in bioengineering from the University of California at Berkeley. She was awarded the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers in 2000, and the Rehabilitation Research Career Scientist Award, Department of Veterans Affairs in 2004. She is also a consultant for Astellas Scientific and Medical Affairs, Inc.
