Planely Schmitz brings together Sebastian Schmitz's best articles and essays written for Airliner World, Airways and Air International about flying the world's most exotic airlines to some of the most remote corners of the globe. A must-have for aviation and travel enthusiasts.
"Schmitz's fascinating essays and articles provide a unique and enthralling perspective on the global commercial aviation scene."Craig West, Airliner World magazineSebastian Schmitz has been writing for the world's top aviation magazines for many years, including Airliner World, Airways, Air International among others, sharing with readers his tales of flying on some of the world's most colourful and exotic airlines to some of the most remote corners of the globe. For the first time, Astral Horizon Press have brought together the best of his work into an anthology, Planely Schmitz. Fly with him from obscure corners of Congo to islands off the coast of New England, from frozen Mongolia to tropical Caribbean islands, and even to the South Pole; and aboard all kinds of airliners, from Boeing and Airbus to Tupolev and Antonov.

In his early late 30s, Sebastian has loved airplanes for as long he can think and even longer. His second word, approximately at the age of five, was Flugzeug, 'aeroplane' in German, or a slight variation thereof, as he saw the aircraft flying over his head on their way to the nearby Dusseldorf Airport. Not knowing really what to do with his life, he stumbled into a service job with one of the biggest and most fantastic airlines of Germany. Still not knowing what he wants to do with his life fifteen years later, he has stayed there ever since and when not serving passengers chicken piccata or tomato juice, he likes to visit airlines and airports around the globe to write about them.He lives a quiet and peaceful life in a small town outside the German city of Cologne and, should this book become a fantastic commercial success, is seriously looking at a second home in Pyongyang.
