Former Dallas Cowboy and Denver Bronco player, Steve Wilson was retired from a ten year NFL playing career and a twenty year Hall of Fame college coaching career when he received a call from a former Broncos teammate, quarterback Scott Stankavage. Scott's son Shawn was a star high school quarterback with a bright future, but a torn ACL his junior year and his father's diagnosis with stage 4 leukemia threatened to derail his dreams of a college career. Scott needed help getting Shawn's dreams back on track and the three men set out on a journey to study the science of football and the art of quarterbacking. They ended up discovering life lessons that changed the trajectory of their lives forever. The QB Mentor is about leadership and faith, practice and perseverance and its wisdom is applicable to every reader, football player and non athletes alike. Coaches, parents, players and any fan of the underdog will be inspired to overcome the challenges in their own life in an uplifting and motivational way.

Scott Stankavage is, at heart, a quarterback. At the University of North Carolina, he was on an ACC Championship team with Lawrence Taylor. As a member of the Denver Broncos, he played with John Elway, Tom Jackson and Gary Kubiak. He was coached by Dan Reeves, Mike Shanahan and Don Shula in a brief stint with the Dolphins. After football, Scott achieved career success in commercial real estate over the past 30 years in the Raleigh-Durham area. Active in the Durham, NC community, Scott has been on the Board of Directors for the local Pop Warner football organization, the Durham YMCA, the Catholic Diocese Bishop's Annual Appeal and Zoweh Ministries, a Christian men's outreach organization. He founded the Turning Point Adolescent Center, a mental health care agency for the underprivileged and has become active in the Raleigh-Durham chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Scott and his wife Kate have been married for 10 years and he is the father of seven children, ranging in age from 27 to 4. Scott is an avid golfer, enjoys fly fishing and is an inspirational speaker to businesses, schools, churches and men's groups.
