Adjudication is now the main means for resolving construction disputes and has proved remarkably successful in that task. However, following the introduction of the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996, a large range of issues of interpretation and practice have arisen, many of which have had to be considered by the courts.
Adjudication has been the main means of settling construction disputes since it was first introduced by the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996, and a substantial body of case law has now built up. This book established itself as the key authority on adjudication when it was first published. It has now been revised to reflect the authors' experience of adjudication in practice and to cover the large number of court decisions. It features useful appendices on adjudication materials.

John Riches, FRICS, is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and Chartered Builder in the construction industry. In 1982, he began to work as a consultant. His range of experience includes large and medium scale building works, power stations, nuclear and process engineering installations, and roadworks. Christopher Dancaster, FRICS, is a Quantity Surveyor. He became FCIArb in 1987 and is a Chartered Arbitrator. He is joint author with John Sims of Construction Arbitrations 2nd Edition and joint author with John Riches of Construction Adjudication: A Practical Guide.
