Michael Abbell is the former Director of the United States Department of Justice Criminal Division's Office of International Affairs and served as the principal negotiator of numerous treaties on extradition, mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, and the transfer of sentenced persons. He also participated in the drafting of legislation and legislative reports relating to various international criminal law matters. He has lectured and written extensively on the subject of international criminal law.
