Worzel – an enormous Lurcher with ‘issues,’ now at the Terribibble Twos, and with an independent streak, matched only by the speed at which he can travel. Still learning to trust, and carrying the baggage of his abusive early weeks, Worzel's staging a teenage rebellion, to the consternation and embarrassment of his ever-patient family.
Things look like they just might be settling down for Worzel. After a year in his forever home, he's come to an almost peaceful truce with most of the cats, persuaded his Mum and Dad that ‘sit’ isn't essential, and – most importantly – established his place in the middle of the bed.

No longer a cautious puppy, Worzel has discovered an independent streak, and his somewhat dodgy recall has become non-existent. Worzel has reached the ‘terribibble teenage twos’ – that time in every dog's life when their owners wonder if the work, patience and dedication spent in the early days was pointless … and why everything their dog previously understood has suddenly become, at best, optional, but, more often, ignored!

Catherine Pickles is an author, journalist and blogger who lives in Suffolk with her husband and nearly grown-up children. As a child, her home was filled with dogs, cats and every stray, broken or rescued animal in the village. She is an experienced foster-carer of Lurchers and other sighthounds. From the moment Worzel – initially a foster dog – skidded through the door, Catherine knew that he would be her first ‘failed foster.’ Worzel Wooface was adopted from Hounds First Sighthound Rescue. His mission in life is to eat every shoe his Dad owns. Tolerant of the five cats who live with him, his favourite is Gandhi, who he considers to be an honorary Lurcher. As well as writing books, Worzel blogs, has his own Facebook page, and writes a regular column for his local newspaper. He is a champion for rescue dogs, and considers himself a Rescue Ambassador, promoting the joys and challenges of second-hand dogs. He can usually be found upside-down on any bed other than his own, often with one of his Dad's shoes that he's ‘looking after.’ And licking.
