In World History Encyclopedia, Joshua J. Mark (2018) reports that: "Herodotus cites Phoenicia as the birthplace of the alphabet, claiming that it was brought to Greece by the Phoenician Kadmus (before the 8th century BC) and that before that, the Greeks had no alphabet." Like the looting of archaeological artefacts and monuments, the falsification of history is a common colonial practice.
