This book examines the role of mythologized history and invented traditions in the ethnopolitical processes of Turkic-speaking peoples from the Middle Ages to the present day. It also shows the purpose of stereotypes about nomads and the nomadic way of life in order to improve the image of a particular people. The author believes that in modern conditions, mythologized history is used not only to build new nations and states, but also to justify their existence within existing borders, legitimizing ruling regimes, and often for expanding territory.
Anuar Abitaevich Galiev, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor. Historian, ethnosemiologist. Member of the Executive Committee of the International Association for Semiotic Studies.
