This book presents a collection of 15 texts, written over the last ten years, published sparsely in scientific journals and proceedings of seminars and conferences. These are writings produced in the field of History, mainly on the history of art and discourses on art, as well as reflections on heritage and museums. There are also some texts dealing with certain aspects of environmental history and the regional history of Maranhão. The collection is preceded by an Introduction written by Sebastian Henkelmann and is illustrated by some of his most recent prints.

Daniel Rincon Caires is a historian with a master's and doctorate in Social History from the University of São Paulo (USP) and a doctorate in Art History from the École des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (EHESS). He has been a researcher at the Brazilian Institute of Museums since 2010, working in the Research Sector of the Lasar Segall Museum for over ten years.
