The Sons of the Leaf was, in fact, the first name. This immediate grasp of the expression, like an intuited certainty of something as yet unformed, submitted only to the idea, until then quite generic, of the need to "work" in the field of "Island Administration", was perhaps more decisive for the construction of the research object than is usually the case, since it is well known that, in these cases, names are often reflections rather than reflectors of a content that is intended to be defined.

Zelinda Cohen was born in Cape Verde and grew up in Brazil, where she graduated in History from the University of São Paulo. She holds a master's degree from Universidade Nova de Lisboa. She is the co-author of vols. II and III General History of Cape Verde and the author of several scientific articles published in specialized journals. From 2008 to 2016 she was President of the Cape Verde CNDHC.
