The Derveni Papyrus, discovered in Greece in 1962 and written in the fourth century BC, is one of the oldest Greek papyri ever found.It contains the work of an unknown author, who allegorizes an Orphic myth into a physical account of the creation of the universe. This text combines ritual, myth, and early Greek philosophy into a fascinating amalgam. The Derveni Papyrus is now available in German translation, and with an explanatory commentary. Der 1962 gefundene Papyrus von Derveni aus dem 4. Jhdt. v. Chr. gilt als der älteste Papyrus der griechischen Literatur. Darin unterzieht ein uns namentlich unbekannter Autor einen orphischen Mythos einer radikalen naturphilosophischen Allegorese. Ritus, Mythos und frühgriechische Philosophie werden hierbei in bisher unbekannter Form verbunden. Dieser Text ist nun zum ersten Mal ins Deutsche übersetzt und kommentiert.
