This text develops a theory of morals which grounds morality in human interests and reason.
This book develops a theory of morals which grounds morality in human interests and reason. It examines whether this foundation allows the traditional idea of morality to be sustained with its core notions of moral duty, moral rights and the categorical right to moral action, and the contents of a so-based morality. The conclusions make it necessary to examine not only moral action but also altruistic action and its importance for human society. Altruistic action is understood as action for the benefit of others, which in contrast to moral action cannot be demanded.
