Map of Durham originally published in 1611 by John Speed, digitally re-mastered from an antique original and printed onto photographic quality media. Supplied flat in a polypropylene sleeve and back board, the 16" x 12" (approx. 406 mm x 305 mm) print can be removed from the protective sleeve for framing or retained in the sleeve.
A plan of the City of Durham is to be found in the top right hand corner of the map, along with a history of the city just beneath. A depiction and description of the battle of Neville's Cross takes up the bottom right hand corner, whilst in the top and bottom left corners are the Royal Coat of Arms and a beautifully illustrated compass respectively. The rivers Tees, Wear and Tyne are marked on the map, along with Newcastle, shown as a small town in comparison with its size today. All the forests and hills of this county are also depicted on this fine piece of artwork.
