Map of Shropshire originally published in 1611 by John Speed, digitally re-mastered from an antique original and printed onto photographic quality media. Supplied flat in a polypropylene sleeve and back board, the 16" x 12" (approx. 406 mm x 305 mm) print can be removed from the protective sleeve for framing or retained in the sleeve.
A bird's eye view of Shrewsbury is shown in the top right hand corner of the map, along with a legend beneath, whilst in the bottom right hand corner is an illustration and history of the battle of that occurred there in 1403. Two examples of the Earl's of Shrewsbury's coats of arms are depicted beneath the title on the left hand side of the map. Forests such as Babinswood, Kingswood, Hockestow and Clun are marked on the map, as are hills such as "Stitterstones", "Browne Clee" and the Wrekin. The river Severn is also shown winding it's way through the county, along with the other rivers and settlements of the time. This would make a fantastic gift for anyone with a link to Shropshire.
