Map of Hertfordshire originally published in 1611 by John Speed, digitally re-mastered from an antique original and printed onto photographic quality media. Supplied flat in a polypropylene sleeve and back board, the 16" x 12" (approx. 406 mm x 305 mm) print can be removed from the protective sleeve for framing or retained in the sleeve.
Birds eye views of "Hartforde" and "Verolanium" (St Albans) are portrayed, along with two armorial devices of the Earls of Hertford. Just underneath the depiction of Verolanium is an interesting history of "the most ancient town", and in the bottom right hand corner is a history of the major battles of St Albans and High Barnet. This map brilliantly illustrates how rural this now built up area used to be, with Hatfield wood and Enfield Chase shown, making this a must have for anyone with connections to the area.
